They:Swarm - The Mundane Corruption (2008)

This is actually the same band that went by the name Whorecore a few years ago, and released a damn good album. I'm not sure why they changed the name, and a slight change in the music seems to have happened too. The songs here are a longer than an average song on Protection, and they've slightly cut back on blasting. Apparently they took back from the grind, and added some modern death to the formula. However, it works alright, The Mundane Corruption is an enjoyable EP. If they release any more albums I'm definitely interested, whatever moniker they choose.

Apparently they have no myspace, but here's the official site
Detrimentum - Embracing This Deformity (2008)

Detrimentum's full-length has an atmosphere that shows some black metal influence, yet the songs are more complex and varied to BM standards. It isn't quite easy to grip, but I'd say it has the gloomy atmosphere of a death metal album made somewhere near the nothern edges of Europe in the early '90s, accomplanied by deep vocals and some blackmetalish tremolo riffs.

Skinless are a New York death metal band. I'd compare them to some other NYDM bands, like Suffo or Dehumanized, mainly because of their similar usage of breakdowns. Most Skinless songs have alot of groovy midtempos, this has become their trademark over time. The two last albums deal mostly with war and have proved that they can blast away at high speeds, while the previous two have a less serious, cynical yet humorous approach to the lyrics and focus more on the breaks - which are, mind you, absolutely crushing.
Aborted - Strychnine.213 (2008)

Another album I've been anticipating. I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but from what I've heard on myspace, it sounds promising.
Update:
Aborted have seemingly overdosed on melodies. Strychnince.213 is quite much the catchiest, and the 'least-brutal' album they did till now. I'd say it's less-brutal for Aborted standards because it's scarcely as punishing as their previous efforts, yet still considerably heavy. They've cut back on and blasting, added more lead melodies, and their new style is even more catchy and memorable than their last releases. I love everything they made before the previous, 'Slaughter & Apparatus' (which didn't do much good for me to be honest), and the new album is a pleasant surprise. It takes some time to get used to, but a good album nonetheless.
